Garrett Call .
Sysadmin · Homelab Enthusiast · Solutions Engineer — I build systems, break things intentionally, and document everything. Currently obsessed with self-hosted infrastructure and automation pipelines.
I build things
that just work.
Hi, I'm Garrett — a Senior Solutions Engineer based in Seattle. I've spent the last 20 years building and tinkering with everything from bare-metal servers to cloud infrastructure.
By day I build and develop Large scale infrastructure solutions in the Biotech field for Scientists. By night (and weekends) I run a homelab that doubles as my playground for learning, breaking, and rebuilding. I believe the best way to understand technology is to get your hands dirty with it.
"If it's not monitored, it's not running." — a philosophy I live by.
I'm passionate about all things Engineering focused, and I'm always looking to collaborate on interesting projects. Feel free to reach out.
What I work
with daily.
The tools, platforms, and technologies I've built real things with.
Infrastructure
Designing and managing bare-metal and virtualized environments. RAID, ZFS, storage clustering, and more.
Networking
VLAN segmentation, firewall rules, VPN tunnels, and everything in between. Home networks that outperform offices.
Containers
Running dozens of self-hosted services through Docker Compose and orchestrating with automated update pipelines.
Monitoring
Full observability stack covering metrics, logs, and alerts. Nothing goes unnoticed in my environment.
Automation
Scripting repetitive tasks, building pipelines, and automating deployments so I can focus on what matters.
Security
Hardening systems, managing secrets, and building zero-trust perimeters. Security isn't an afterthought.

The Homelab.
A look inside my home infrastructure. Real hardware, real services, always learning.
